NEU ROMANCE, 9PM
Neu Romance @ Kings is proud and excited to announce the summer residency of the Rafiq Bhatia Trio every Sunday night starting at 8:00pm May 21st through June 25th. For the last three years Neu Romance has featured many local bands, DJ's and artists, and we have been particularly happy to present these shows for free or for nominal admission fees. Having Rafiq for six weeks is extra special because it allows a fusion of jazz and electronic music
that is rare in the Triangle. Rafiq Bhatia is a guitarist and composer from Raleigh, NC currently residing in New York City. He is involved in various musical projects in North Carolina and New York including both his original music as well as that of others, in styles derived from jazz, experimental/free-form, hip-hop, and contemporary Indian traditions. Rafiq has learned under the tutiledge of great musicians and teachers including John Scofield, Jason Marsalis, Wayne Krantz, Roland Geurin, and Bruce Arnold, and he is currently enrolled in the prestigious Jazz and Contemporary Music program at New York University. Rafiq will be joined by Matt Douglas on saxaphone, Chris Pattishall on keyboard/synthesizer, and Steve Coffman on drums, as well as various other musicians thoughout the summer. All of these shows are free, and as always Neu Romance features free pool, cheap drinks, light eats, and
chill vibes.
